California 3-Hour Notary Public Refresher Course

**Read this first — many people who buy a refresher course are not eligible for it.** Under Government Code section 8201(b)(2), you may use a three-hour refresher course only if all three of these are true: 1. You hold a California notary public commission right now, and it has not expired; 2. You have already completed an approved six-hour California notary public course at least once; and 3. You will take the state exam and submit your application at the exam site **before** your current commission expires. If your commission has already expired, or you are applying for the first time, this course will not meet your education requirement — you need a six-hour course. A six-hour course always satisfies the requirement, new applicant or renewing. And if you take this refresher but let your commission expire before you pass the exam, your Proof of Completion is no longer good and a six-hour course is required anyway.
